Diego is an Outdoor Adventure Consultant and Professional Mountain Guide currently living in Bariloche, Argentina.
He runs Xplore Bariloche (Formerly Meridies), a Bariloche based adventure travel outfitter which focuses on customized small group active travel, commercial mountaineering expeditions, back country skiing, trekking and sea kayaking.
Diego is also co-founder and president of Ecomed (www.ecomed.org.ar ), an Argentine based non for profit organization which delivers risk management consulting services and wilderness medical trainings throughout Latin America since 1998. He has over 20 years of experience teaching Wilderness Emergency Training courses for outdoor professionals, including guides, park rangers and outdoor educators.
As a guide, Diego has over 25 years of experience and is a member of the Argentine Mountain Guides Association (AAGM). He has done over 40 ascents of Aconcagua, climbs to some of the iconic granite spires of the Firz Roy range and several mayor Big Walls including El Capitan and Half Dome in Yosemite.
As an Outdoor Educator Diego has worked as Course Director and Staff Trainer for Outward Bound in the United States and Patagonia since 1991. His outfitter currently runs Outward Bound programs in the Bariloche Mountains.
He was awarded the Civilian Medal of Honor ’Condor Dorado’ for having lead several lifesaving rescues on Mount Aconcagua, and the US Ministry of Interior and National Park Service also awarded him an official recognition for having conducted rescue operations in the Sierra Nevada which saved the lives of Park’s personnel.
Husband and Father of three “little adventurers”, Diego's work has evolved from the planning and leadership of ‘hard core’ expeditions in the very remote and extreme, to the design and delivery of family and small group personalized travel experiences in Patagonia.
